The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.
Applications are now open and will close on 15 December 2024.
*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding
To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant should fulfill the following criteria:
• Be a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a house having a combined gross home earnings that doesn't exceed R350 000 for each annum.
• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined family cash flow would not exceed R600 000 per annum.
• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and need not post any evidence of income.
*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle
The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent people from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.
Applicants are reminded to deliver the correct Identity Document numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored of their South African ID.
NSFAS only funds people who are studying or intend to study at a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.
All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.
Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing nsfas status check of their application.
